Elton John has announced thirteen new UK arena shows for late 2020, following the announcement of the first UK dates of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
He’ll be playing arenas in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Leeds in November and December 2020.
The 2020 UK dates will kick off with two shows at London’s The O2.
“The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour will take us to many places that have meant a lot to me over the last fifty years,” Elton announces, “but these UK shows will be incredibly special. The UK is home, and where my heart will always be. To celebrate some of the incredible moments we’ve shared with my British fans over the years will be wonderful. These homecoming shows will be very emotional, and a lot of fun.”
The musical legend recently revealed he’ll also be taking to The 1st Central County Ground in Hove on Sunday 9 June 2019, and Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday 15 June 2019. The latter was confirmed as Elton’s last ever show in Wales.
Elton’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour launched in the United States in September, having by the end of this week played to over half a million fans with a wealth of praise from critics and fans alike.
The full tour will consist of more than 300 shows across five continents, appearing in North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australasia, and set to reach its end in 2021.
As one of the top selling solo artists of all time, Elton has 38 gold records to his name, with over 50 Top 40 hits. He has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and holds the record for the biggest-selling single of all time, selling over 33 million copies of Candle In The Wind 1997.
He released his debut solo album in 1969, celebrating mainstream success the following year with his sophomore self-titled record.
His many hits, taking him across six decades, include Your Song, Tiny Dancer, I’m Still Standing, Sacrifice, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Electricity and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
As well as dominating the charts, Elton John has written music for stage and screen, and continues to be a key activist in the fight against HIV/AIDS. He established the leading non-profit HIV/AIDS organisation Elton John AIDS Foundation, raising over $400 million to date.
