Arnside Highlights present Rouse, Ye Women

What's happening?

In Arnside Educational Institute, Church Hill, Arnside LA5 0DF - Townsend Theatre will perform “Rouse, Ye Women” on Saturday, 13th April at 7.30pm. Through traditional songs and moving ballads, Rouse Ye Women tells the amazing story of the women chainmakers of Cradley Heath, striking to achieve a living wage for themselves and their families. Their successful ten-week strike in 1910 was led by the charismatic union campaigner, Mary Macarthur. It exposed the perpetrators of appalling sweat shop labour, led to a doubling of their earnings and established the principle of a national minimum wage.
A Guardian Readers top favourite show 2017, with music by John Kirkpatrick and Neil Gore. **** “A powerful story, powerfully told” – The Observer.
Tickets are £8 (adults) £4 (under 18s) on sale from Sue Hayward [email protected] 01524 762254 or online (a booking fee applies to online bookings).
